Upcycled plastic into Chinoiserie

Who doesn't have plain old plastic trays, vases, bowls (you get the idea) lying around the house? Spruce them up with some paint to give them a faux chinoiserie look.

I took a plastic tray from the Dollartree and a plastic bowl I had thrown in the back of a cupboard. With a little paint and spray paint I turned them into brand new pieces with a faux chinoiserie look.

Took some white and blue acrylic paint and painted the underside pattern on each piece.

When that was done, gave both pieces a coat of white gloss spray paint.

I trimmed the edges of the bowls with gold leafing.

I love the way they turned out. The best part----they didn't cost a thing!

What do you think?
