DIY Dollartree Agate/Geode Coasters

Have you noticed how agate and geode is everywhere nowadays? Have you also noticed how expensive they are!!

I've had my eye on geode coasters for quite some time now, because they are absolutely gorgeous. But the prices are a tad too much for coasters.

So I decided to make some myself. Took a trip to the Dollartree and purchased some wood squares from the crafting section. I have an enormous amount of paints (it's quite embarassing how much paint I have) so all I had to buy was the squares.

Now, this part was completely trial and error. I mixed paints and tried to make patterns until I ended up with something I liked. Used the nail polish remover (very little of it) to make the paint run a little smoother. A little glitter and gold leafing to the edges to make them pop. The finishing touch was Mod podge dimensional magic...which is my new favorite thing on the planet!! I must've been hiding under a rock all this time, because I didn't know about it!!

It gives it a faux resin look which is amazing!

I loved the way they came out. Since I was on a painting kick, took one of the Dollartree silver platters and did the same to it.

What do you think?
