With all the Halloween Decor I have, I was missing something…that something happened to be a branch tree. I wanted a tree that would look like it was straight out of a Haunted Forest. So I put the ol’ Noggin to work and started working.
I went around the neighborhood like a true “crafter” (crazy lady) picking up fallen branches and twigs. I gathered them up and spray painted them with a matte black. I had a plastic terra cotta pot from the dollar store and I used that to hold my branches, I also spray painted that black. (as you can see below)
I added some floral foam to the pot and inserted the twigs. It looked like this might tip over, so I stabilized the inside with rocks. (as you can see below)
I went to Michael’s and got a large bag of green moss and with my trusty glue gun, began to cover the pot with it. But I wanted the pot to resemble a tree trunk, and I had envisioned flowing moss on the bottom…the only way to do this was by adding a circular styrofoam piece to the bottom of the pot…I hot glued it on.
From there I started to attach the moss to the entire thing, it was fairly easy, since the messy look would make it look more realistic.
And Voila…there is the finished piece…just need to add some black crows (dollar store) and some glittery bats that I had. And below is the final product on display in my home. Love the way it looks. What do you think?
